“We need to be at it from the start”

In-form Armando Dobra spoke exclusively to 1866+ ahead of this weekend’s game, discussing his positive start to the season and the squad’s aim for promotion.

Beginning by reflecting on his fourth goal of the season in last weekend’s draw at Bromley, the Albanian said: “‘Griggy’ did most of the work, it was great play. He took it past two players and then pulled it back to a nice area and I was there, just took a touch and finished it.

“As an attacking player, you just want to get that first one and then hopefully the rest follow. I’m in good goalscoring form, but obviously the team is playing well and creating chances for me.”

On the season so far, Dobra added: “We’re scoring loads of goals. On the training pitch the gaffer tells us which positions to be in and then when we’re in those positions, it’s up to us to execute.

“The new additions have been really good – a breath of fresh air and the gaffer only signs quality players and it’s healthy competition for all of us. We all have to be on our A-game if we want to play.

“I love the club. I want to get promoted this year, that’s our aim this season and hopefully we can do.”

Discussing Newport, he said: “They’re a tough opponent. We’ve done a bit of analysis on them, they’re a good side and they’ll be up for it and we need to be at it from the start so we can get a performance and win at home.”
