The Spireites will be looking to close the gap to those in the promotion places when they welcome Salford City to the SMH Group Stadium.
Paul Cook’s side bounced back from defeat against Colchester United last Saturday with a win over Burton Albion in the Vertu Trophy on Tuesday.
Salford also tasted victory in the same competition in midweek after previously losing back-to-back league games.
In the Spotlight
Daniel Udoh made the move to Salford City on deadline day from League One side Wycombe Wanderers.
In his 11 appearances so far this season, for Salford and Wycombe, he has scored three goals and provided five assists.
Chesterfield have come up against the striker just once, for Crewe Alexandra, in 2-0 win in the EFL Trophy back in 2016.
The gaffer’s record
Paul Cook has come up against Salford City just two times throughout his career – both times coming last term.
In the home fixture, James Berry’s second-half strike was cancelled out by Kelly N’Mai as the ten-man Salford came away from North Derbyshire with a point.
As for the game at the Peninsula Stadium, the Spireites ran out 4-0 winners with Liam Mandeville (2), Bim Pepple and Armando Dobra getting on the scoresheet.
Man in the middle
Oliver Mackey has refereed 128 games in his career, showing 472 yellow cards, 24 red cards and giving 36 penalties.
The fixture between Chesterfield and Salford City will be his 13th game during this campaign as the main official – seventh in League Two.
It will be his first game officiating either club and he will be assisted by Matthew Perry and Drew Dutton, with Sam Wesson as his fourth official.
Danny Webb’s thoughts
“They’ll be wanting to kick on and they’re only one point ahead of us, so they’ll want to increase that gap.
“So, we’ve got two home games coming up. Obviously, we want maximum points, but we certainly know it won’t be as easy as that.
“I think if we win, we could potentially be level in the top three. If we don’t win, we can drop down, that’s how football is.”
