The Spireites enter the 2025/26 Emirates FA Cup at the first round stage as they travel to the Lamex Stadium to take on Stevenage.
Chesterfield have made it past the first round of this competition for the past four seasons.
Stevenage currently sit in the play-off places in League One and have progressed past this round in their last five campaigns.
In the Spotlight
Harvey White moved to Stevenage back in September 2023, joining from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.
He has played 83 times since under the management of Steve Evans and, currently, Alex Revell.
The midfielder has had a stellar start to this season, scoring five goals in all competitions and also bagging three assists.
The gaffer’s record
Paul Cook has come up against Stevenage five times previously in his career, all away from Chesterfield.
He has a record of one win, one draw and three defeats against the Boro.
Four of those fixtures were whilst he was manager of Portsmouth, securing the win and the draw during the 2015/16 season.
He also took charge of Southport against the then known Stevenage Borough in the Conference back in 2006 – Stevenage won that game 2-1.
Man in the middle
Alan Young will be the man in charge at the Lamex Stadium, refereeing his 14th Emirates FA Cup fixture.
Earlier this season, Young refereed the Spireites’ opening day 1-0 victory against Barrow at the SMH Group Stadium.
Overall, he has taken charge of 307 matches, handing out 1250 yellow cards, 50 red cards and awarding 74 penalties.
Gary Roberts’ thoughts
“It’s going to be a really tough tie; they’re a team who are so drilled in what they do and how they play.
“They work for each other, they’re such a good team, they’ve got players who can affect the game at the top end and they’re solid at the other end.”
