After signing for the club on a permanent basis earlier in the month, Spireites forward Will Dickson spoke exclusively to 1866+ ahead of Saturday’s game against Walsall.
Discussing why he made the permanent switch to North Derbyshire, he said: “I think it was great for both parties. I really enjoyed my time here on loan and I thought I’d like to make this my place my home.
“I think there’s quality all over the squad as well. I’ve learned a lot, especially playing in the men’s game. I’ve learned a lot from the gaffer, from the coaches and other players as well.
“The gaffer has also shown to me that he wanted to keep me here as well, so I think as long as it benefits both parties and I continue to do the business for the gaffer, then it’ll be okay.”
On the importance of Tuesday night’s win over Salford City, he added: “It’s definitely boosted morale. I don’t think any of the lads were happy with Saturday’s performance, so to put that right in a way and get the winner was great.
“Salford are very good at what they do. I think we did start to control the game towards the last 20-30 minutes of the game. I think we deserved the goal and it was great when it came, great timing.”
He then looked at the Walsall fixture. “We know they’re a very good team,” he said. “They’ve been up the table for a long time. I actually made my debut against them away from home where we lost 1-0, so obviously we’re looking to right that wrong as well. We know their qualities, but we know we’ve also got quality.
“The crowd are really important to us, I think they give us that boost that we need. They’ve been great away from home and at home as well. They create a great atmosphere and that’s something that we like to feed off.”
