The Spireites will host Tranmere Rovers at the SMH Group Stadium on Saturday afternoon in Sky Bet League Two action.
Chesterfield come into this game off the back of three consecutive wins and three clean sheets against Accrington Stanley, Cheltenham Town and Barrow.
Tranmere have failed to score in any of their last five games, four of which have been losses, as they look to pick up crucial points to stay in League Two.
In the Spotlight
Omari Patrick has been the standout player for Tranmere this season. He has the joint-most goal contributions this season for the Rovers.
As previously mentioned, Tranmere have failed to score in any of their last five games, however, Patrick set up Zech Obiero for their last goal, against Oldham Athletic on March 7.
The 29-year-old is currently in his second season at Tranmere Rovers, having made the switch from Sutton United in the Summer of 2024. Last season, Patrick scored 13 goals and accumulated six assists.
The gaffer’s record
Paul Cook played for Tranmere Rovers from 1996 until 1997, making 55 appearances.
In his managerial career, Cook has faced Tranmere on four occasions, winning once, drawing once and losing twice.
The only win came in December last season, in which the Spireites won 3-0 at the SMH Group Stadium.
Man in the middle
Sebastian Stockbridge will be the referee for this fixture, assisted by Daniel Woodward, Drew Dutton and fourth official, Wayne Cartmel.
Stockbridge took charge of one of the Spireites games last season, which was the 2-2 draw against Walsall at the SMH Group Stadium.
Paul Cook’s thoughts
“Really, really tough game against a club that’s close to my heart, and obviously we know the difficulties that that’s going to bring.
“Like every team fighting for their lives, that’s what they’re doing. Unfortunately for Pete (Wild) and his lads, they’ll have been in their meetings where they’re all trying to come together.
“The first thing, how you come together, you bang at it. You’re organised, you’re structured, and you’re at it. They’re the first three things any club in those situations will be doing.”
