Chesterfield Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of Fraser Bryden on a three-year deal form Northern Irish side Crusaders FC for an undisclosed fee, subject to a medical and relevant approvals.
The 22-year-old striker signs after an impressive season in the Northern Irish Premiership in which he scored 23 goals in 37 appearances, netting three hat-tricks including a four-goal performance against Glenavon.
The Scotsman began his career at Ayr United after graduating from their academy and featured a number of times in the Scottish Championship for The Honest Men before enjoying a loan spell with Queen of the South in Scottish League One.
Bryden then moved onto Crusaders in the summer of 2025, scoring four goals in his first two games for the side and ending the season well with another four in his final three appearances for the club.
After joining the club, Bryden said: “I’ve known of the interest for a few weeks now and as soon as I heard about it, it was something that really excited me.
“(Now) I’m finally here, I’m delighted.”
Having spent Monday morning at the club, Bryden got the chance to see the SMH Group Stadium and some of his new team-mates for the first time.
“The club looks brilliant,” he said. “The facilities are all top-class and I’m just looking forward to getting started on the pitch.
“All the boys have been so good and all the staff seemed really welcoming. I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of the people at the club.”
Speaking about himself as a player, he added: “I’m a number nine, centre-forward, I like to get myself in between the sticks and score goals.
“I had a really good season last year in Northern Ireland and coming across here this summer, I’m looking to kick-start where I left last season and try to hit the ground running.”
Assistant manager Danny Webb expressed his thoughts on the signing, saying: “We’ve been looking for another addition to our frontline and Fraser has had a terrific season over in Northern Ireland.
“He’s a player we’ve been looking at for a while and we believe his goal contribution and all round game will have a big part to play going forward.”
