The Spireites return to League Two action and the SMH Group Stadium in this afternoon against newly-promoted York City at 3pm.
Paul Cook’s side head into this one off the back of consecutive victories, with the most recent being an EFL Trophy win. An eight-goal thriller ended in a 5-3 win for the Spireites.
York have had a positive start to life back in the EFL, with three wins, two draws and a single loss in the league. Last time out, York tasted their second defeat of the season in all competitions against Newcastle United U21.

Alex Newby has had a blistering start to the current season, scoring in all but one of York’s league games so far. Last time out, the 30-year-old scored a brace in York’s 4-0 win over Swindon Town.
The attacker also played a vital role in helping his side achieve promotion last season, scoring 12 in the National League.
Head-to-head
The Spireites defeated the Minstermen 4-0 the last time today’s visitors came to the SMH group Stadium, with all of the goals coming in the second-half from current York midfielder Ollie Banks, Tom Naylor and Will Grigg, who bagged a brace.
However, the two sides’ last meeting ended 2-1 to York in the Spireites’ first game after securing promotion back to the EFL.
Man in the middle
Benjamin Speedie will be today’s official, assisted by Aaron Hallam, Thomas Harty and fourth official, Paul Stonier.
Speedie’s last game involving Chesterfield was a 2-0 over Notts County on Boxing Day last season. Before that, Speedie officiated a 2-0 win at Cheltenham Town early on last season.

“Like most other clubs it takes a while to get up to speed, it’s just the nature of football. I was really pleased with the lads on Tuesday night.
“We are now off the back of a couple of good results, but we are under no illusions about how difficult the game will be tomorrow.
“Having watched York over the last couple of days, they are a very good side, really strong so it will be a good game tomorrow but a really difficult one.”
