Roberts wary of threat posed by Wealdstone

Ahead of this evening’s game at home to Wealdstone, Gary Roberts spoke of the threat posed by the team currently occupying tenth spot, ten points behind the Spireites.

He said: “They’re a really well-coached team who like to play through the thirds. They play out from the back and they are one of the better teams in the division.

“It was a really great result for them at the weekend. I watched them against York and they were really impressive. For a team who’re part-time, they’re doing really well.

“They’ll come here with no fear at all because there’s no expectation on them, which is a danger to us.

“We’re on our home ground again and if we replicate the Notts County performance in our last home game then hopefully we’ll be okay.”

New signing Paul McCallum made his second start at the weekend after arriving on loan from Dagenham & Redbridge and Roberts is pleased with how the striker has settled in. “You look around the place and you’d think he’d been here a lot longer,” he said.

“The lads have taken to him and he’s taken to the lads. He’s done really well, and he’s got his goal.

“We need crosses into the box because he’s a danger. His movement is really good, his hold-up play is really good and he’s a really good lad. He’s a good addition to the squad and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
