Danny Webb is aware that FC Halifax Town will not use their trip to the Technique Stadium as a ‘free hit’.
Speaking to the media, he said: “[Halifax] had a tough start to the season. [Chris Millington] has stuck with it and pulled a bit away from that bottom part of the league but at the same time he probably would like to be close to the play-offs.
“They are not clear of relegation – I don’t think they will go down. With a few games to go, anything can happen.
“There’s no doubt on any scale that Chris will be letting them come here and using this as a free hit. They will want to cause an upset.
“They’ve got some good players and look really solid. We’ve got to make sure that they don’t draw or win tomorrow and make sure they leave here with nothing.”
Chesterfield head into the final eight games of the season level on points with Woking in third place.
Webb spoke about the feeling around the place, saying: “There’s a lot of games to go. We’ve got to make sure we don’t slip back into that bad form. Football can change really quickly.
“It does help if you’re playing well and winning games. There is a good feeling around the place and the supporters.
“We’ve had such a good record recently away from home. To go into a home game, we owe the fans a nice performance and three points. It’s well overdue.”
The Spireites are five unbeaten in the league but are also five without a win on home soil.
Webb spoke about what the side need to do to find some good home form as we head into The Final Push.
He said: “I think it’s about doing all the basics right. Not conceding silly goals, not missing too many chances and not giving the referee the opportunity to give anything.
“Both boxes recently have been much better than we were on that run. On the whole recently, the defending around the box has been great in open play.”
