Weekly academy round-up

With so many academy games happening during the week, it can be difficult to keep track of how well the teams are doing.

This article provides an easy rundown of the results for you to follow and keep track of all the Chesterfield teams.

U7s 

Chesterfield U7s welcomed Somersall Rangers in the NDYFL, performing well at home against tough opposition.

U8s

Chesterfield U8s, too, battled it out against Somersall Rangers, continuing to develop as young Spireites.

U10s

It was another great week for Chesterfield U10s as they took on Evo Soccer Academy in the JPL. 

U11s

Chesterfield U11s’ challenge was in the form of Yorkshire RTC, battling hard and dominating in large parts of a difficult match-up.

U12s

Chesterfield U12s travelled up to Yorkshire to take on York City FC in the JPL, bringing home all three points in an entertaining five-goal thriller. The 3-2 scoreline made the journey worthwhile.

The Spireites were quick out of the blocks, with Thompson firing them ahead with his first of the game.

Despite Chesterfield dominating, and having multiple chances to extend their lead, two quickfire goals from York City saw the young Spireites fall behind before the break.

The youngsters fought back, though, with goals from Todd and Thompson, his second of the game, meant the comeback was complete.

Good resilience, determination, and belief helped Chesterfield to overcome their opposition to bring back all three points.

U14s

Chesterfield U14s took on Doncaster School Boys in a friendly game, playing out a 1-1 draw.

Norris scored the only goal for the young Spireites, as they took on a strong Doncaster team full of quality.

The side struggled to gain a foothold in the game and were forced into a change of game plan, choosing to go long instead.

A decent performance for the young Spireites.

U15s

Game One

A very mature performance from Chesterfield U15s saw them push past York City, taking all three points in a 3-0 win.

With some difficult conditions, they teams found it hard to adapt in the first half, with the opener coming in the 51stminute.

A goal kick from Jones found Coye, who coolly slotted the ball home to give the young Spireites the lead.

In control of the game, and on the front foot, Lloyd added two goals in 10 minutes to give Chesterfield a comfortable lead going into the final stages of the match.

Game Two

It was tough day for Chesterfield U15s, who were defeated 5-0 by a strong Stourbridge side.

A game to put behind them.

U16s

Game One

Chesterfield U16s travelled to take on Gainsborough Trinity in a friendly, defeating their opponents 5-2.

Braces from Tingle and Clarke was accompanied by a Cancellara to put the tie out of reach for Gainsborough.

The Man of the Match award was a tough decision, so it was given to both Cancellara and Jenkinson for two very impressive performances.

Game Two

Chesterfield U16s came from behind to defeat Herefordshire in the JPL.

The young Spireites went into the break a goal behind, but goals from Staniland and Zamboglou saved the day for Chesterfield.

The Man of the Match was awarded to Devereux for his performance.
