Weekly academy round-up

With so many academy games happening during the week, it can be difficult to keep track of how well the teams are doing.

This article provides an easy rundown of the results for you to follow and keep track of all the Chesterfield teams.

U7s

Chesterfield U7s carried on their brilliant form as they took on Wingerworth in the NDFYL, performing brilliantly.

U8s

Chesterfield U8s put out a good display against CJB, playing with plenty of energy and desire.

U9s

Game One

Chesterfield U9s played some exciting football against Doncaster Elite in the JPL, showing great character against a strong side.

Game Two

Chesterfield U9s faced off against Alfreton Town team, as they rehearsed for next month’s cup final.

It was a controlled performance, making good use of the ball and playing well against their future opposition.

U10s

The JPL witnessed a strong performance from Chesterfield U10s as they battled it out against Scarborough FC, playing some quality football from start to finish.

U13s

Game One

It was a day to remember for Chesterfield U13s. A six o’clock start, a three-hour bus journey, ten outfield players and two goalkeepers, and a quality opposition. All of that, ending with a 2-1 win against Workington AFC.

The team spirit was high, despite the odds stacked against them with a lack of players and a gruelling journey.

Keeping their shape, and keeping belief, the young Spireites were level at the break. 1-1 thanks to a fine goal by Charles.

The goalscorer was not finished their, however, as he slotted away the winner in a tight second-half battle with Workington.

Chesterfield were able to bring all three points home, and looked forward to a well-earned rest on their travel back.

Game Two

Chesterfield U13 saw out a 1-0 win against MK Dons in the JPL Cup.

With only 11 players, the young Spireites had their work cut out for them. Chesterfield had to perform to their very best, stay resilient and hold out against a very strong MK Dons side.

The coach said: “We kept our shape very well and managed to get a goal on the counter.

“We did really well to hold out until the end.

“I’m very proud of the lads, especially with the number of games they’ve played this week.”

U15s

Game One

Chesterfield U15s overcame Gateshead in a 3-1 JPL Cup victory. 

Despite the early conceding of a goal, Randall, White and Coye completed the comeback to ensure the young Spireites made it into the next round of the cup.

A brilliant performance, showing great mentality and desire and dominating the ball against a very tough opposition.

Game Two 

Chesterfield U15s took on Qualitas in a friendly, claiming a 2-0 win against a tough opposition.

Mercer bagged both goals for the Spireites, as Chesterfield kept a tight defence to keep their opponents out.

U17s

A strong performance from Chesterfield U17s saw them defeat Emley AFC U18s in the JPL Cup. 

The young Spireites took home an impressive 3-0 win, with the side having to battle the elements as well as a difficult side.
