U7s
Chesterfield U7s continued their good form, coming into their home NDFYL fixture against Barlborough beaming with confidence. Both sides played some good football and could be proud of their performances on the day.
U10s
The young Spireites put on another comfortable display as they took on Doncaster Whites in the JPL.
U12s
Chesterfield U12s travelled to Sheffield to take on Sheffield United Girls. The young Spireites looked to have rounded off a comfortable victory, but a frantic last 20 minutes kept Chesterfield on their toes, eventually seeing out a 5-3 win.
The Blues took control early in the match, firing in four quick goals with a fifth in the second half, through Dove, Manlove, Gilbert and a Thompson brace.
The young Spireites had total control, building up promising phases of play, combining well and supporting each other out of possession.
A crazy few minutes as the clock ticked down, however, saw Sheffield open up the tie with three quickfire goals. Thankfully for Chesterfield, the goals were only consolations as the Spireites took home all three points.
U13s
Following a below-average result last week, Chesterfield U13s grafted for a 2-2 draw against Oxford United in the JPL.
Oxford fielded some very skilful individuals and took the game to the young Spireites, taking a 2-0 lead into the break, having scored both in the first ten minutes.
After a talk at half-time, the Spireites did well to hang in and keep themselves in the game. With 20 minutes left to play, Chesterfield finally had their chance.
A goal from Davies gave the side hope, before a last-minute free-kick from Charles completed the comeback.
Charles drilled a stunning set-piece into the top corner with only seconds left on the clock.
The U13s earned their point against extremely tough opposition and showed just what it meant to play for the club.
U14s
Chesterfield U14s faced Rushden, winning their JPL game 2-1 through Keyghobadi and a debut goal from Hague.
Working on a new formation made it difficult for the young Spireites but once settled, they adjusted and adapted to the challenge ahead of them.
Both goals came from two different, but very impressive, circumstances. The first, playing in triangles to keep the opposition away from the ball before Keyghobadi unleashed a strike from midfield.
Hague added the second, with Chesterfield’s high-press tactic coming to fruition, leading to the young Spireites scoring an all-important winner.
U15s
Brassey and Covill’s Kane-Son-like combo came to life as the duo had contributions in both goals in a 2-0 victory against Stockton.
With the two sides quiet in the first half due to the poor weather conditions, Chesterfield opened the scoring shortly after the hour-mark. Covill threaded the ball into the box, before Brassey (66) calmly finished past the keeper.
Provider-turned-goalscorer Covill finessed home the second at the near post with a smart left-footed finished. It was Randall to get the assist, getting in on the action with a fine pass.
A special mention to MacDonald who was awarded the MOTM award for his display.
U18s
The young Spireites’ 1-1 draw with Brighouse meant the sides shared the points in the JPL.
Staniland was the lone scorer for Chesterfield U18s in a tightly contested affair, with Brighouse pegging the Spireites back.
Many players pushed for the win but were unable to find the winner.
