Manny Oyeleke spoke to a group of players from Chesterfield FC Women recently.
Taking part in a Q&A session with Nick Johnson in the HUB, Manny spoke about the challenges he has faced in his career, including being released by Chelsea at a young age.
Emily Clark, one of the players who listened to Manny, said: “It was a fantastic talk. At the start of the season, we definitely felt that lack of confidence he was talking about so to think about solutions and put ourselves in the right mind-frame was definitely worthwhile.”
Another player, Sofiat Rufus. added: “I found the session really enjoyable and I felt like I learned a lot. I felt that it was an amazing opportunity for us.”
Manny was more than happy to share his experiences. He said: “It’s good to be able to help in any way I can because I really enjoy that.
“I find it really rewarding, in terms of just being able to speak to young players. They’re going through unique challenges – definitely different to what we go through in the men’s side of the game.”
Commenting on the state of the women’s game and the progress being made by the Spireites, Manny said: “It’s really refreshing to see the women’s game flourishing.
“The Chesterfield women’s team is in its infancy and it’s good to see just how dedicated they are to their craft. I just really hope they can get the respect they deserve.”
