Chesterfield-based Ideal Flooring have been regular advertisers on 1866 Sport since the radio station was launched and they have benefitted from the association.
Kev Howarth, who owns the company, has been delighted with the business generated as a result of advertising on the station. “We’ve had a big increase in footfall, which has surprised me, to be honest,” he said.
“I didn’t realise how big 1866 Sport was. I just thought it was for people who wanted to support Chesterfield FC, but it isn’t. It’s for people in the community as well. People seem to have switched over to 1866.”
Kev admits that the link-up with the Spireites is a popular talking point when customers visit the shop, which is situated just off Chatsworth Road.
He said: “We know the people who’ve listened to us on 1866 because that’s the general subject we get on to, rather than flooring. We get on to football and forget about carpets for about ten minutes!”
Kev has urged other companies to advertise on 1866 Sport, saying: “It’s surprised me with the response we got and I’m suprised about the amount of people listening to it.
“I would recommend giving it a try. You don’t know what’s going to happen unless you give it a try.”
