Defender joins Spireites

James Rowe has added to his defensive options by signing Fraser Kerr from Torquay United.

The 28-year-old Scot, who plays in central defence, has joined the club on a permanent basis, signing a contract until the end of the season.

Rowe is delighted to have landed Kerr, saying: “I’ve followed Fraser for quite some time and his attributes fit into the way we are trying to move forward.

“He is a great addition to our squad and strengthens us for what will be a busy fixture schedule until the end of the season.”

After starting out at Birmingham City, Kerr played in Scotland, spending three years in the Scottish Premiership with Motherwell.

He returned south to play for Gateshead and Hartlepool United before linking up with Torquay last year.

Kerr has represented his country at various levels and won three Scotland Under-21 caps.
