It has been confirmed that Tom Pearce has signed for the Spireites on a contract that runs until the summer of 2027.
The left-back, who was most recently with MLS side CF Montreal, becomes the sixth signing of the January transfer window.
After coming through the youth teams at Everton and Leeds United, he signed professionally for the latter club in 2016.
Pearce played ten times for the West Yorkshire outfit and had a loan spell at Scunthorpe United before departing Elland Road three years later.
He joined Paul Cook’s Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee and made 104 appearances for the club.
During the 2021/22 campaign, the defender helped the Latics to the League One title alongside current Spireite Tom Naylor.
In 2024, Pearce swapped England for Canada when he moved to the MLS to join Montreal.
He played 37 games for Le CFM and came up against the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.
The Ormskirk-born player has also appeared for England at U20 and U21 level – winning the Toulon Tournament in 2018.
Commenting on his move, Pearce said: “I came back from the MLS in October time and then spoke to a few different clubs and then obviously Chesterfield got in contact.
“Obviously speaking with the gaffer and the staff, I just thought this was the perfect move in my career. I’m really looking forward to it and happy to be here.
“Chesterfield was the only club for me and having a chance to play under the gaffer again, it’s a real privilege.”
