Danny Webb spoke about the advantages that the Spireites might have when they take on Bromley at the Technique Stadium in the National League play-off semi-final.
Speaking to the media, he said: “We’ve known all season what their threats are. We know how good they are at certain things.
“They’ve got some very talented players. I think we are all pleased that it is not away and on the astroturf – it’s a weapon for them.
“There’s going to be 9,500 here, on a carpet of a pitch. We want to play the way we want to play, and Bromley will have to adjust to us.
“We didn’t and couldn’t adjust to how they wanted the game to go at their place and the result didn’t lie. We’ve got to make sure the result doesn’t lie tomorrow.”
The Spireites qualified for the play-off semi-finals last Saturday for the first time since entering the fifth tier five years ago.
Webb gave his thoughts on how that has brought different preparations ahead of the game against Bromley, saying; “It gives you that one less game. Now they’ve won that game and we are on a par. It’s all to play for.
“There’s going to be a mix of nerves and excitement. We watched the eliminators and we’ve had a week now where those nerves and excitement isn’t necessarily in your belly. And it will be more so tomorrow.
“It will be dealing with the expectation, dealing with the occasion, dealing with the opposition, bringing our A-game and hopefully getting this team to Wembley.”
With the big game just a day away, Webb touched on how important the game could be for Chesterfield.
“It will be a very light session today,” he said. “We’ll be going through a few bits and bobs on the training ground.
“Then we’ve got to get ready for battle before what will hopefully be an historic day in the history of the football club.
“It’s in our hands and we’ve got to make sure we get this town jumping. What a Bank Holiday it could be if we win.”
A reminder that the match kicks off at 3.30pm. With a large crowd in attendance, supporters are urged to arrive in plenty of time.
