Ahead of the Good Friday fixture against York City, Danny Webb encapsulated his feeling from the title-clinching win against Boreham Wood.
Speaking to the media, he said: “You really wish that the day and night could go on longer. I sat upstairs with my family, and you try to soak it all in.
“You see the joy on people’s faces and tears running down from their eyes, it’s fantastic.
“It’s great for them because I’ve said all season about how we’ve had dark times, protests and anger.
“Now they’ve got a bit of joy in their bellies. They can go and have their summer holidays knowing their team are champions.
“We are back where we belong. Every person associated with this football club and this town should enjoy every moment.
York City have recently got their heads just above the relegation zone after wins against Aldershot Town and Bromley.
Webb knows they will be playing against a team with their tails up, saying: “We are playing a team that have won their last two games. I’m not a big believer in form but, in their eyes, they’ll be looking at it as an upturn in fortune.
“They got hammered at Altrincham and then they’ve suddenly got two good wins against two big play-off contenders.
“I remember their manager from my time at Brighton. I’m sure they’ll be looking to stay in this league.
“I think we are taking over 2,000 to York and considering we have won the league; they can have a real party and leave the serious stuff to us.”
Despite the title having been won with five games to go, the Spireites are still looking to break records as they near the end of the season.
Webb said: “We had meetings yesterday and it’s all about winning as many games as we can now. Make sure we finish strong.
“We owe it to the other teams that we are playing against to do things properly – which we will do.
“Now you can focus about records and doing those sort of things. It’s been a good couple of days and it’s back to business.”
