Manager John Pemberton has today signed a 12-month contract and announced the appointment of John Dungworth as his new assistant.
Pemberton is pleased to have put pen to paper after being engaged on a short-term deal since returning to the club in January. He said: “Nothing changes really for me after coming in towards the end of the season but I’m happy to have it done.
“I like where the new owners want to go with the club and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and making sure our season is better than it was last year.”
Explaining the thinking behind the length of contract agreed, Pemberton commented: “I asked all the players to only sign a one-year contract and fight for another one and I think it’s only fair that I do the same.”
Dungworth had a previous spell at Chesterfield as an academy coach and Pemberton is happy to have been able to add him to his backroom team.
“I’ve known John years and he’s an experienced coach who’s been at good clubs,” said the 55-year-old. “He will be a good addition to us.”
