Stadium, the Spireites are back on their travels as they head to Cumbria to face Carlisle United, who sit at the foot of the Football League after a disappointing first half of the season following on from League One relegation.
Meanwhile, Chesterfield are searching for a first win on the road since the 5-2 win at Morecambe in late October, suffering defeats at Harrogate and Exeter in the meantime.
Head-to-head
The last meeting between the sides came in February 2018, when a Carlisle side featuring Mike Jones defeated the Spireites 2-0 at Brunton Park.
Chesterfield’s last win over Carlisle came back in the 2011/12 League One season, when Leon Clarke’s hat-trick sent the Spireites on their way to a 4-1 demolition of the Cumbrians on home soil.
In his five games against Carlisle, Paul Cook has won two, drawn two and lost one.
The defeat came during his time as Accrington boss, when his Stanley side suffered a 1-0 League Cup first round defeat in the 2012/13 season.
The next four meetings came during his spell with Portsmouth with the most recent game ending in a 3-0 away win for Pompey, with Gary Roberts opening the scoring.
Mike Williamson
After a successful spell with Gateshead, Williamson earned his managerial move into the Football League with MK Dons, guiding them to fourth position last season before they were heavily defeated at the semi-final stage by eventual winners Crawley.
After a lacklustre start to the season, Williamson departed Stadium MK and headed north for Carlisle, looking to assure their defence and bolster their attack with their poor record of both conceding (30) and scoring (15).
Player-in-focus
With six players all on two goals, the Cumbrians lack of potency going forward is evident, but Luke Armstrong has proven himself as a dangerman at League Two level over the last few seasons with Harrogate Town.
After a move to Wrexham failed to go through, he signed with Carlisle at the start of the most recent January transfer window but couldn’t help them avoid relegation, netting three times in a side that finished rock bottom of League One and 16 points from safety.
After the Cumbrians’ poor start to the season, eyes will be turned to Armstrong to provide the goals in the absence of Charlie Wyke, who was ruled out for the rest of the season after picking up an ankle injury in October.
