A ball signed by legendary players who helped England win the World Cup in 1966 is being auctioned to raise money as part of the club’s efforts to help people in Ukraine.
Following on from the matchday collection on Saturday, a ball signed by all members of the World Cup winning side, apart from Bobby Moore, is up for auction to further help the cause. The ball also features the signature of another England legend, Sir Trevor Brooking.
This unique item of memorabilia has been generously donated by Spireites fan David Watts.
Explaining the background to the source of the item and his reason for autioning it now, David said: “The ball was won at a charity auction in 1997, hosted by hat-trick hero Sir Geoff Hurst and the insurance company he worked for at the time.
“The plight of Ukraine has tugged my heart strings a lot in recent weeks and I wanted to do something to help raise money for the people there.”
The auction is now underway and it will end at 7pm next Sunday. A reserve has been set. To make a bid, please email [email protected].
Regular updates will be provided over the course of the week, announcing the latest highest bid.
