Spireites coach Gary Roberts was pleased with a 2-0 victory and a clean sheet against a ‘very strong’ Boreham Wood side at the Technique Stadium.
The Spireites took the lead in the 32nd minute thanks to a King free-kick. King struck the ball from around 20 yards out, the ball hit the inside of the post and went in.
The Spireites doubled their lead in the 74th minute with another free-kick. This time Oldaker struck the ball from around 25 yards straight into the top left corner.
Roberts said: “We knew it was going to be a really tough test. They’re so organised with some top, top players at the top end of the pitch. We know they’re strong at the back.
“Boreham Wood, they’ll come again. You can see why they don’t get beat very often, they’re a very strong team, good manager whose got them really drilled and we are more than pleased, especially with the clean sheet as well.
“Our two lads at the back had to be strong and big Marsh is, for me, one of the top strikers in the division.
“He didn’t really have much of a sniff, so testament to our two lads, who have had a little bit of stick because we concede goals, but we concede as a team.
“We concede when we are going forward in transition, nothing to do with the centre-halves. They were brilliant today, so pat on the back.”
