Spireites win in private practice match

The Spireites won 3-2 at Rochdale in a private practice match on Tuesday afternoon.

After finding themselves two-nil down, Chesterfield came back to claim victory.

Liam Mandeville scored Chesterfield’s first goal after being set up by Michael Gyasi.

Armando Dobra equalised and Akwasi Asante struck the winner from the penalty spot after being brough down inside the area.

The match featured a 30-minute appearance from Jack Clarke, who is edging his way back to full fitness following a lengthy lay-off.

New signing Lucas Covolan also featured after taking over from Scott Loach in goal.

First-team coach Gary Roberts was very pleased with the performance. He said: “After going two down, we totally dominated the game after that.

“We played well and there were some really good performances. We were the better team and everyone came away happy.”
