Chairman Mike Goodwin has issued the following message to supporters on behalf of the board of directors…
Last night’s defeat at Altrincham was bitterly disappointing and we all share the frustration voiced by supporters after being edged out in a number of games this season after taking the lead and creating numerous chances.
We are now in the process of recruiting a new manager following the departure of John Pemberton and we will carefully consider the applications to ensure we have the candidate in place who is capable of meeting our expectations.
Building blocks have been put in place off the field to improve all areas of the club and we can assure everyone that we are taking steps to bring about an upturn in fortunes on the field.
The recent appointment of Paul Lemon as our new chief scout is just part of a player recruitment strategy being put in place to provide the management team with vital support. We feel that this is of paramount importance to the long-term development of the club.
Given the position we currently find ourselves in, supporters are naturally keen to learn what short-term measures are in place to improve matters. We can confirm that the new manager will be provided with the necessary funds to strengthen the squad, which is seen as a priority.
I have been interviewed at length this week for a Derbyshire Times feature, discussing various matters affecting the club. We will continue to keep supporters informed of any developments at the appropriate time.
In the absence of Q&A sessions as a result of the pandemic, we are in the process of introducing other ways of communicating with supporters, including a monthly online newsletter, providing updates from all departments at the club. A regular podcast featuring contributions from key club figures will also be produced.
This is your club and we share your passion and ambition to see it succeed once again.
Thank you for your valued support.
Mike
