The Senior Spireites lunches will return in the New Year with legendary former player Derek Niven as the special guest on Monday, January 31!
Nick Johnson, who hosts the lunches, said: “We have not put on a Senior Spireites lunch since before the first lockdown and many of the regulars have been asking for them to return so we have taken the decision to relaunch in the New Year.
“I am delighted that Derek readily agreed to attend the first lunch back. He was a very popular figure during this time at the club and I am sure that fans will be delighted to hear that he is appearing at this event.”
Derek was signed from Bolton Wanderers in 2003 and made 297 league appearances in a nine-year spell.
He scored the final ever goal at Saltergate, finding the net with a stoppage-time volley to give the Spireites a 2-1 victory against Bournemouth.
The cost of attending the event is £15.95, which includes a superb two-course meal.
