Ahead of the Spireites’ away fixture against Eastleigh, manager Paul Cook spoke about the importance of concentrating on his own squad.
Speaking to the media, he said: “Every game is tough in this division. Every game brings its challenges with formations, tactics, team shapes.
“For me, the last two days have been very much concentrating on what we’re about.
“With football today you have to be more creative with your thinking. In the modern-day game, it is more tactical.
“The learning curve for our group is looking back and thinking what can we do better, what areas should we be playing in and how can we be more defensively solid.”
Branden Horton became the club’s 13th different goalscorer this season with his strike against Dagenham & Redbridge.
Cook believes that the threat that Chesterfield carry is a good thing to have, saying: “The reality is for us is that goalscoring has not been the problem this season. Branden scoring and having 13 goalscorers is a great achievement for any club.
“When you’ve got 13 different scorers, it shows you that the threat we’re carrying going forward is good.”
Heading into the Eastleigh game, Cook revealed that his squad will be slightly hampered due to a couple of injury problems.
“We’ve got a couple of injury concerns. There’s a couple of lads that played Tuesday night that are going to be out for a period of time, which is really disappointing,” Cook said.
“The reality is that there will be changes tomorrow and we go down there with our normal great support.”
