Ahead of the Spireites’ trip to The Hive this Saturday, manager James Rowe spoke about the capabilities that Barnet possess.
Speaking to the media in the pre-match press conference, he said: “They’ve had a real upturn with the manager change. They got a great result at Boreham Wood and that shows their capabilities.
“They’ve had a bit of a problem with the schedule. It hasn’t been consistent for them, which has affected their results.
“They want to play better than what they did in their last home game. They’re going to be going out all guns blazing to get the victory.”
As the season heads towards the half-way point, Rowe thinks that the National League is in for a thrilling conclusion.
The gaffer also talked about taking the expectation on, saying: “I think it’s important to take stock of how far we’ve come in terms of challenging. We’re in the mix.
“It’s going to be a really exciting four-and-a-half months and you’ve got to be positive in your mindset – whether you’re a supporter, director or player.
“You have to broaden those shoulders, take that expectation on and have a right go. We’ve got to have no regrets come Saturday, May 14 and I believe we are in that place.”
The Spireites welcomed defenders Luke Croll and Laurence Maguire back from injury at Stamford Bridge.
Akwasi Asante also continued his journey back to full fitness and Rowe is happy with how the squad is looking ahead of the Barnet game.
“Everybody’s okay,” Rowe said. “It was good to get some minutes into the legs of Laurence and Luke Croll. Akwasi got his half hour. We’re looking stronger going into tomorrow’s game.”
Jack Clarke suffered a ruptured hamstring during the FC Halifax Town fixture and Rowe gave an update on the midfielder.
Rowe said: “He had his operation last week, which was successful. Now it’s about his mindset and me working with him on a daily basis.
“We’ve got to make sure he’s balance like we did with Akwasi. We’ve got make sure he’s positive on his return.
“We’ve signed Jack for next year as well. He’s a very talented individual. All I’m interested in is making sure we see the best out of him next season.”
