Jez scores late equaliser to secure point

Jesurun Uchegbulam rescued a late point for the Spireites as they came away from Huish Park with a 2-2 draw against Yeovil Town.

A goal for either side came in the first ten minutes as the teams went into the break level.

Josh Staunton thought he had won it, but Uchegbulam popped up with his first goal since joining from Matlock Town to secure a good point.

The home side took the lead after just four minutes; Gime Toure latched onto a long ball over the Blues defence and rolled the ball home after taking it around Lucas Covolan.

Chesterfield rallied and found a very quick response. Jeff King saw his cross/shot parried out as far as Jamie Grimes, who stroked the ball home from close-range.

Yeovil continued to pile pressure on the visitors as Owen Bevan headed over from a corner and Staunton cleared the crossbar with his close-range effort.

Ollie Banks and Joe Quigley both had long-range chances at goal which former Spireite Grant Smith initially spilled before claiming the ball.

Jack Clarke stole the ball in the Yeovil penalty as the half neared its end before finding Calvin Miller and the winger fired just wide of a post.

The second half started off at a frantic pace but both sides found it difficult to create much in the way of chances.

Smith and Covolan both faced shots on goal; however, neither goalkeeper was tested early in the second period.

Toure almost saw his cross deflected past Covolan by Tyrone Williams. Luckily, the ball drifted just past a post.

Uchegbulam and Michael Gyasi were brought on as both sides searched for a late winner.

The hosts looked to have grabbed all three points when Staunton bundled home from a deep corner.

However, Uchegbulam rescued a late point for the Spireites when he beat Smith with a strong strike at the near post.

The draw means that Chesterfield have gone unbeaten in nine league games since the start of the season – a joint club record.
