On Torquay

Torquay United had a long history of playing in the Football League before they were relegated to the National League in 2014. They spent four years in the National League before being relegated to the National League South in 2018. They bounced back immediately after they were crowned champions of the National League South in their first season.

Last season they reached the National League play-off final to battle it out with Hartlepool for promotion back to the Football League. Their goalkeeper scored an equaliser in the last minute of normal time, but they subsequently lost on penalties.

This season Torquay will be hoping they can go one better than last year, and finally regain their Football League status.

One to watch

Connor Lemonheigh-Evans is a midfielder with an eye for goal. The Welsh 24-year-old spent time at Bristol City as a youngster and he was then loaned out to Bath City, before making the move down to Torquay. He has scored ten goals in 42 appearances for the Gulls.
