“We are not underestimating them”

Despite Maidenhead United not being in great form, James Rowe believes the Spireites are still up for a tricky game on Saturday [3pm].

He said: “Maidenhead aren’t on a great run, but they haven’t really played at home. We know what the conditions are going to be like.

“I’ve been there a few times with Aldershot. It’s a tricky game. So, we have to respect what Alan [Devonshire] has done there.

“They have certainly overachieved as a part time team. They beat us [at the Technique Stadium] earlier in the year, just before my tenure.

“We know it’s a difficult fixture; we are not underestimating them. We will see what the team selection is and how to win the game.”

Curtis Weston picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against Yeovil Town last weekend, which means he will miss the trip to York Road.

Rowe thinks it is an opportunity for someone to take the shirt, saying: “He has been at the forefront of what we are doing, but it gives someone else the opportunity. We have got the players in to come in and claim the shirt.

“He’s played nearly every minute under me. I think he came off for the Sutton United game because he was booked.”

Rowe has rotated his squad over the past few games with the likes of Will Evans and Haydn Hollis missing out and he says that the players who miss out will return when the situation calls.

“They’re going to come back into the team when I see fit,” he said. “With the fixture congestion, physically we have got to be right on our mettle.

“We play with high energy; our pressing game is in the top echelons of the league now. Home or away we want to be on the front foot.”
