Manager James Rowe gave his pre-match thoughts before the Spireites take on Wealdstone on Saturday (3pm) at the Technique Stadium.
He said: “They are going to play with freedom, that’s for sure. They have run a couple of the top teams very close.
“We can’t take the points for granted. With three games left, we need to make sure that this is a victory and three points.
“We need to be ruthless and take our chances, which we have done. What’s been pleasing over the last couple of games is yes, we have conceded, but they have been single goals and we have scored eight. So, that’s pleasing.
“We need to give Wealdstone the respect they deserve; they ran Bromley very close on Tuesday. We will do our utmost to make sure that the three points are in the bag by 5pm on Saturday.”
Chesterfield have bounced back from defeats against Torquay and Hartlepool with back-to-back 4-1 wins and Rowe believes that the squad has shown character to recover from those setbacks.
“It shows a good strength in character, especially with the injuries we’ve had. Danny [Rowe] and Manny [Oyeleke] have had to build relationships with the team.
“It’s particularly hard during this period as well because we are not training as hard as we have done because of the gruelling schedule. The hours to build those relationships have been minimal because of the fixture schedule.”
Fraser Kerr was taken off after 17 minutes against Woking and missed the game against King’s Lynn Town.
Rowe gave an update of the defender’s injury, saying: “We got the update through yesterday and unfortunately he’s out for three months. That’s his season finished.
“He’s ruptured a ligament. Another injury but I’m sure we will cope with it. He’s got all the support network he needs.”
