“We’re looking forward to putting a performance on”

With a Bank Holiday Monday trip to King’s Lynn Town to follow, James Rowe insists that he and the players are fully focused on Saturday’s opening home fixture against Wealdstone.

Commenting in his pre-match press conference, the manager said: “Everything is geared towards Wealdstone. We need to try and get three points in front of an expectant crowd.

“We’re really excited to get going and it’s great occasion for the fans coming back in. We’re looking forward to putting a performance on.”

Wealdstone lost 2-1 at home to Woking last weekend but Rowe knows they will be tricky opponents.

He said: “They’ll bring their own challenges. They played well here last year so that’s a warning for us.

“I’m expecting them to try and come at us early. I’m sure they’re going to come and have a right go.”

Rowe revealed that Alex Whittle and George Carline are both pushing for selection now after recovering from their respective injuries, adding: “We go in with the same collection criteria. We’re looking good.”
