On Jimmy McNulty

Jimmy McNulty played for various Football League clubs throughout his playing career before making the move to Rochdale in 2015. He proceeded to make close to 250 appearances for the club before retiring in 2023. His retirement coincided with him being given the manager’s job with the Dale – a position he previously held on a caretaker basis in 2022. McNulty has managed the club through a difficult period after they dropped out of the Football League at the end of last season. The defender has also registered himself in the playing squad during this campaign but has not played a minute.

One to watch

Even at the age of 39, Ian Henderson is still finding the back of the net for Rochdale. His goalscoring record against Chesterfield is also something to keep an eye on. In his 16 appearances against the Spireites, the veteran striker has bagged eight goals.

This season in numbers:

Appearances – 33

Goals – 11

Yellow Cards – 2

Red Cards – 0

Minutes Played – 2,137

Played for both

Kairo Mitchell joined Chesterfield in April 2021 with the Spireites aiming for a play-off place. Opportunities were sporadic for the striker as he only made eight appearances for the club before joining Notts County at the end of the season.

In the summer of 2023, Mitchell joined Rochdale for the expiration of his contract at Meadow Lane. The 26-year-old is enjoying one of his most productive seasons to date with ten goals in 25 games – including a goal in the reverse fixture at Spotland.

View from the dugout

Danny Webb said: “I think they play some really good football. They play a certain way and stick to their style and they’ll do that again on Saturday, I’m sure.

“They have threats all over the pitch. It’s all about getting three points for us and getting back to winning ways.”
