Summer catch-up: Will Grigg

Will Grigg is the latest player to get involved with our summer catch-up series, as the striker came into the club to do some running with the first-team staff.

He spoke with media assistant Bron Jenkinson about various different topics and began by talking about his summer holidays.

He said: “I’ve had a good summer but it’s been a busy one for me. It hasn’t been a normal summer, really, with the injury, I’ve been rehabilitating and ensuring that I’m fit and ready to go for the first game of the season.

“I did manage to get out to Dubai to get some sun with the family and that was a nice trip away. It was a good mental reset and a nice change of scenery.

“We just wanted guaranteed sun and it was definitely that; it was red hot!

“I’m chomping at the bit to get going now, though. I’m ready for the football to come back.”

Will spoke about his injury, which he picked up towards the back end of the title-winning campaign.

“I’m a fully fit player again,” he said. “I’m fully recovered from the injury and looking forward to pre-season beginning.

“I feel fit, ready and motivated to get back into the Football League with this club and push on.

“It’s going to be an exciting season and who knows what it will bring.”

He also touched on topics such as:

  • Competition with new man Paddy Madden
  • His international career with Northen Ireland
  • Paul Cook and his relationship with the gaffer
  • His personal targets for the next campaign

… and much more!
