“I’ve enjoyed every moment of it so far”

Two weeks after signing for Chesterfield, Ronan Darcy sat down with 1866+ to discuss his time at the club so far.
“It’s been brilliant,” he said. “The lads are great, it’s a really good group and obviously the manager’s brilliant, so I’ve enjoyed every moment of it so far.
“The competition in the squad is a bonus because it makes the team, you need it to achieve what we want to achieve and it makes everyone work harder to get that spot in the starting 11.
“The gaffer’s style of play suits me. I just need to keep going, keep working hard and keep playing well for the team.”
Darcy made his first start for the Spireites in the Carabao Cup fixture against Mansfield Town and has made substitute appearances in the league fixtures against Cheltenham Town and Bristol Rovers.
Reflecting on the support he has experienced so far, he said: “The fans were unbelievable. I know the result didn’t go how we wanted it to (against Mansfield), but another day we win that match.
“The fans were ridiculously good.  You want the games to come thick and fast because you know when the fans are there, they’re the 12th man, aren’t they? So they’re always there for you.
“We’ve started very well, but we all know where we want to be at the end of the season. I think if we take each game as it comes then anything could happen, but now it’s looking very positive.”
