Nine players within the club’s academy have secured personal trainer qualification with MITSkills as a result of successful studies alongside that were completed alongside their time playing for the Spireites’ youth sides.
The players who have earned the qualification are: Dylan Hinman, Deaconn Courtney-Farrelly, Oliver Nicholson, Reilly Farrell, Kaden Scott, George Grumley, James Sissons, Louie Ward and Charlie Reece.
Joe Leesley, the MIT Skills tutor, said: “The boys have been fantastic all year, making sure their attendance to the course was maintained at a high level to give themselves the best chance of qualifying with flying colours – which they all have done.
“The qualification allows the students to work in a gym or studio straight away, offering them a flexible career that can provide financial income whilst still allowing them to pursue their football careers with Chesterfield and in non-league.”
Academy manager Neil Cluxton said: “The lads have done really well to balance their football and studies, achieving the qualification with confidence. All of our players who are on personal trainer and degree courses have the ability to play for non-league clubs at weekends, helping their development whilst they train with us through the week and compete in games for Chesterfield in U21 and U23 development squads.
