Another five-star performance from the women’s team

It was another five-star performance from Chesterfield FC Women as they beat Harworth Colliery 5-0 today.

There were no changes to the starting XI after last week’s victory on the road. However, Watkinson and Mann made the bench

It took the Spire six minutes to open the scoring. A great ball across the box from Foster saw Clark in the right place at the right time to slot home.

After the goal, the Spireites dominated possession and worked Harworth.

A dangerous free-kick from Greaves saw Foster put her volley narrowly wide.

Around the half-hour mark, Foster picked up the ball in her own half, successfully dribbled into the box with a great solo run before being brought down in the box. A penalty was awarded and Foster converted.

Clarkson (40) scored her first goal for the club with a great header from a corner delivered by Stafford to make it 3-0.

Just before half time, the Spireites scored again when a great through ball from Graham saw Foster on the end of it and she calmly slotted home.

Changes were made in the second half with Harrison, Pinkney, Butterworth and Breeze all coming off with Delaney, Mann, Singleton and Watkinson coming on.

The second half the Spireites tested the Harworth keeper even more, but she pulled off some really good saves from shots from Graham and Foster.

Greaves hit a deep free-kick well but saw the ball just clear the bar.

The Spireites finally broke through again and a great ball from Stafford across the box saw Clark there again to slot home.

With two goals apiece from Foster and Clark and another from Clarkson, together with a clean sheet for Carroll, it was a very satisfying afternoon for the Spireites.

Chesterfield are now nine games unbeaten in the league.
