Defeat for women’s team

Chesterfield FC Women went down to a 4-0 defeat at Lower Hopton on Sunday afternoon.

The Spireites were low on numbers for the match, with only two being named on the substitutes bench.

In the first half, with strong winds behind them, through balls were not holding up for the Chesterfield players.

The Spireites dominated possession, winning a large amount of corners which unfortunately did not result in any goals being scored.

With the conditions not easing, both teams struggled to play.

Carroll made some outstanding saves in the first half to keep the scores level at the break.

The Spireites keeper made another great save soon after the re-start.

The hosts took the lead in the 66th minute and added a second in the 75th minute.

Any hopes of a comeback were effectively ended with a third goal for Lower Hopton in the 81st minute and they added a fourth just a minute from time.

It was a very frustrating afternoon overall for the Spireites. .
