Defeat for women’s team

Chesterfield FC Women lost 2-1 at home to Bugbrooke St Michaels FC on Sunday afternoon.

With games coming thick and fast, there were three changes to the starting XI.

There was high pressure from the start and some
good play early on, passing and keeping the ball well.

There was a great ball across from Lilleyman, but no-one could get on end of it to finish.

The opening goal came 13 minutes in when a through ball put the opposition in get in and they scored against the run of play.

There were further chances for the away team, including a free-kick in a dangerous area.

A mistake at the back led to Bugbrooke extending their lead before the break.

There was some good play from the Spireites down the right soon after the re-start and better play, gaining corners and winning the ball high.

The Spireites kept the pressure on and dominated the second half.

A goal from Singleton in the 77th minute gave the Spireites more energy to keep pressing.

Bugbrooke’s keeper made some outstanding saves in the last ten minutes to keep Chesterfield out.
