Dobra on new contract

After attacking midfielder Armando Dobra extended his stay with the Spireites until the summer of 2027, he expressed his delight at signing the new deal, saying: “I’m really happy. It’s a good moment for me and my family to sign a new contract here. It’s a great club, great fan base, good staff.

“The manager’s been really good with me. ‘Webby’, Kieron (Dyer), Paddy (Byrne) and ‘Robbo’ have been really good to me. I’m just happy and enjoying my football so it’s a good place to be.

“I feel like we can still push for promotion this year and that’s a big thing. We’ve got a good fan base and a good squad and if it’s not this year, then it will be next year.

“I hope I can continue scoring and assisting to help the team get into the play-offs where we want to be. I think it’s still possible and hopefully we can get a run going in these last 16 games.

“You can see the calibre of players we’ve got here. They’ve played in the Championship, League One, some in the Premier League as well, so you look at the players here and they’re really good.

“Obviously we’ve been unfortunate with a lot of injuries this season which has probably killed our momentum a bit, but I feel like whether it’s this season or next season, we will go up.”

Armando then praised the fans for their support during his time as a Spireite so far, saying: ”The fans are really good, they’re great for all the players. They support us when we lose as well as when we win.

“They come with 8,000 or 9,000 at every single game, sometimes even more, and you just don’t get that in this league or even in the leagues above very often.”
