Will Grigg believes that the Spireites can be pleased with their start to the National League season.
The striker scored his first for the club in the 4-2 win away at AFC Fylde as Chesterfield recorded back-to-back wins at the start of the campaign.
Speaking to the media, he said: “It’s been an interesting and lively few games. If you look at the top end of the pitch and the goals scored, it’s something to be really pleased about.
“The goals against – we just need to nip in the bud really. Saturday, going 4-0 up and then we took our foot off the gas a little bit.
“It was pleasing [to scored against Fylde]. To get that fist one in the league, it was very nice. It was nice and easy which is always a good start.
“I think, overall, we’ve got to be pretty pleased. Six points in the first two games was the aim and that is what we’ve got.”
Seven of the eight goals scored by Paul Cook’s side so far this season have been scored by attacking players.
Grigg thinks the understanding with those around will continue to improve, saying: “It’s definitely getting there. It is something that will get stronger as we play together.
“I think in pre-season we saw a little bit of it. Every day in training and in the two games we’ve played, the understanding is getting more and more.
“There’s so much quality there. The footballing understanding in the players around me is brilliant.”
The Spireites travel to Oxford City on Tuesday in a first-ever meeting with the newly-promoted Hoops.
On the challenge ahead, Grigg said:“It’s going to be a tough challenge. They will be full of confidence having come up last season.
“For us, we are everybody’s biggest game of the season at the moment. So, we are going to expect a really tough challenge again.
“It will probably be a different challenge to Dorking and Fylde. It’s another test. We have to watch their strengths and weaknesses, which we have done.
“They had a tough game at the weekend and lost late on. For us, we just ned to concentrate on what we are doing. We know if we are on our game, it’ll be a tough challenge for everyone.”
