Darren Oldaker has expressed his love for the Spireites and reviewed his season to date.
The midfielder began by expressing his appreciation for the manager, Paul Cook.
He said: “I have to say, since coming to the club, the gaffer has been fantastic with me.
“He’s a top manager and never brushes you aside; he always has time for you, and that isn’t something that can be said for all managers. I love playing for this club and for the gaffer.
“I’ve had some dark days and not always enjoyed my football, but for sure this is the most enjoyable period of my career and probably my life.
“He’s a brilliant manager, and I’m so grateful for him putting his trust in me.”
Oldaker has made 12 appearances so far this season and scored two goals.
The 25-year-old revealed he feels like he’s in the form of his life, saying: “As a footballer, you always know when you’re playing poorly, but that also means you know when you’re doing well.
“I think I’m playing some of my best football ever, and I’m loving it too. The manager has really put his faith in me, and I hope I’m repaying him for that.
“There are definitely some things I need to improve on, and I know I haven’t been perfect, but I feel consistent and feel like I’m contributing to the team well.
“I simply put it down to enjoyment. I absolutely love this club and love stepping over the white line wearing the shirt, and I really believe that is helping me thrive.
“I’m just loving it. To finally be back in the Football League is amazing for me personally, but also for the club.
“Football is a funny old game, though; things change quickly, so I’m keeping my head down and working hard every day.”
Finally, he revealed what he believes the club can achieve this season and expressed his gratitude towards the supporters.
“I think this is a tough division, and certainly we’re still adapting,” he said.
“The reality is we have so much quality within this squad; there’s no doubting that, and we all know how much quality we have.
“We know there have been a few results where we feel we could’ve done better, but that’s football, and we must keep working hard.
“I think we can push for promotion; I don’t see why we couldn’t. The supporters of this club are out of this world.
“Since the day I arrived here, they’ve supported and backed me and the team, and it’s something I’m so grateful for.
“The supporters being as good as they are really makes you want to go out there and perform for them.
“Who knows where we’ll end up at the end of this campaign, but for sure I know everyone inside that changing room will have given it their all.
“I’m really excited for the rest of this season and beyond.”
