“It’s a great occasion for the fans”

Danny Webb previewed Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup clash with Derby County whilst also giving an update on recruitment.

He began by reflecting on last week’s draw with Swindon Town, saying: “I think results never lie in football. We obviously wanted to win, of course we did.

“I thought we played brilliantly in the first 45 minutes and the penalty decision is obviously a massive moment but that’s football.

“Looking back, there’s plenty of positives to take and we have some stuff to work on too but it was a positive start overall.

“It’s done now and we look ahead to the next game, as always.”

The assistant manager previewed the big clash with Derby County.

“It’s a great occasion for the fans,” he said. “The supporters will be bang up for it and it’s a great occasion; most of them would’ve given anything last season for a clash like this two games into the season so it’s a good one.

“We will be going there to win the game, for sure. Derby will want to win; they’ll be looking to get a win under their belts to try and kick-start their season.

“We’re the underdogs, which is nice, but we’ll be going there looking to win the game, make no mistake.”

Finally, Webb gave an update on recruitment. He said: “We want to bring another goalkeeper in, yes.

“Someone to push Ryan [Boot] and give us a little bit more competition in that position.

“’Booty’ has been excellent, absolutely excellent, but with only one more young keeper from the academy signed on, we definitely need to try and bring someone else in to push Ryan and help him.

“We have some targets but we’re being patient. As always, we’ll only sign someone who adds to our squad; they have to be right for us.”
