“It’s a team effort”

Assistant manager Danny Webb spoke with the media ahead of Saturday’s away fixture at Aldershot Town.

He began by reflecting on our dramatic win over Hartlepool earlier in the week. He said:
“It was a crazy game but we got the all-important three points in the end.
“Of course, we need to make sure we don’t fall two goals behind like we did, we know we can’t do that.
“It was frustrating but the lads showed fantastic character to pull it back and finish up winning the game.
“That is the sort of character that you’re looking for if you’re going to achieve anything. However, we can’t be in that position to begin with, we have to start better.
“It’s been and gone now though and despite how dramatic it was, we’re really looking forward to Aldershot now and it’s all eyes on that one.”

Danny complimented Mike Jones’ performance and spoke on the midfielder’s patience paying off.
“I thought Jones was absolutely fantastic, he worked his socks off in that midfield that’s for sure,” he said.
“He’s had to be patient and wait for his opportunity but when it came, he took it and he did really well.
“It’s a team effort and we have to stop giving the ball away but I thought Mike did excellent as well as many other players.”

Finally, Danny provided an update on the squad.
He said: “Bailey Clements was back doing some ball work for the first time in a while which was fantastic to see.
“He won’t travel to Aldershot it’s just too soon for him but he’s edging closer.
“Everyone else is doing okay although Ryheem Sheckleford is still a good three or four weeks away from returning.
“We’re really happy with the squad and who with have in the building.
“Obviously we signed Miguel [Freckleton] in the week, which is a big signing for us, he’s been on our radar for a while.
“Sheffield United rate him highly and we’re excited to have him in the building, he’s a young lad but he hasn’t just come to sit in the stands.
“He wants to play and he wants to push for a starting place, he will travel with the squad to Aldershot and we’ll see how he fits in.”
