Assistant manager Danny Webb spoke with the media ahead of Saturday’s big National League clash with Southend United.
He began by previewing Saturday’s opponents, saying: “It’s going to be a real tough game. This league is so tough, there’s no easy games.
“This certainly isn’t one of them. Southend have the best defensive record in the league.
“We’ve got to go into it with full confidence and we’re confident we can get a result but we’ll have to be on it. We’re ready for them.
“They have lots of attacking threats and are defensively solid; they’re a fantastic side. It’s a real big fixture, bring it on.”
Webb spoke about the mentality of the squad, saying: “Our thoughts are we don’t want to lose another game,”
“That’s a real high demand from us but we go out to win every game.
“The three games we’ve lost we have no complaints about, we want to keep it at that.
“The mentality of this squad is fantastic; we have a great bunch of lads.
“It will be very tough not to lose a game from now until the end of the season but we’ll be doing everything we can not to.
“We’re focused and ready, we want to continue our form. We have to maintain our standards and effort; nothing is won yet.”
Finally, Webb gave an update on the fitness of the squad.
“The positive news this morning is that Ryheem Sheckleford is back available for selection,” he said. “He’s had the stitches in his leg out and he’s ready to go.
“Unfortunately, it might be a step too soon for Ash Palmer. His knee has improved and come down but it might be a game too soon.
“Ryan Colclough and Miguel Freckleton are not available for selection.
“Everyone else is ready to go and we’re ready for the game.”
