The sad news reaches us that John Derek Longmore passed away on August 23, aged 86.
John followed the Spirietes since he was six years old when his dad took him to his first match.
John actually played for Chesterfield’s intermediate team when he was 17 and his best mate at the time was Gordon Banks, who he used to sit with on the bus.
John had to stop his football career due to his dad passing away. Over the years, John has stood with Chesterfield though thick and thin, even buying shares.
He became a founder member when the club moved from Saltergate and had a seat with his name.
John will be missed by so many and we send our sincere condolences to his family and friends.
