Loan Watch

Several Spireites players have embarked on loan spells this season, gaining valuable experience and contributing to their temporary teams. We’ve taken a look at how each individual is getting on.

Kane Drummond | Oldham Athletic | National League

The 23-year-old striker joined Oldham on loan on October 4. Since the move – described by Paul Cook as “a great opportunity for a young lad to get regular minutes” – he has made four appearances, three as part of the starting XI and one as a substitute.

After capturing the striker, Oldham manager Micky Mellon said: “I’m delighted to get him, I wanted him in the summer, he’s a player I really like.”

“It’s a real positive signing, he can play in wide areas and he can play up front. He’s blessed with pace and work rate; the fans will love him so I’m delighted.”

Hobson has made eight appearances, scoring one goal, which came against York City. Following the expiry of his initial loan, terms were agreed for the young midfielder to stay with the Bees until January 1.

Paul Cook described the loan as “a perfect move for all parties”, explaining that it provides the midfielder with valuable minutes and experience while he remains a contracted Spireites player.

Following the injury, assistant manager Lewis Young commented on Akinola’s absence, saying: “His all-around presence and personality within the group have been fantastic; losing him is going to be a big blow.”
