The Spireites have made the long trip to Cumbria to take on Barrow as they look to continue their recent unbeaten run.
Barrow sit comfortably above the drop zone 16th place, 17 points ahead of Carlisle United.
The side, managed by Andy Whing, are unbeaten in their last five – beating Notts County and Port Vale away in that time.
Head-to-head
The two clubs have played each other 58 times, spanning back to 1921 where Barrow won 2-1 in Division Three (North).
Chesterfield do have the upper hand in the fixture, winning 26 times but not tasting victory in Cumbria since 1965.
Jamie Grimes popped up with the all-important moment in the reverse fixture back in November. The captain’s 89th minute header gave the Blues a slender 1-0 win.
Manager – Andy Whing
The one-time Chesterfield loanee is still relatively new to management, getting his first role at Banbury United back in 2020.
After three years, the former full-back joined Solihull Moors following the departure of Neal Ardley.
Last season, Whing guided Solihull to Wembley twice but suffered penalty heartbreak in both the National League play-off final and the FA Trophy final.
The 40-year-old joined Barrow in January after the club decided to part ways with Stephen Clemence.
Player-in-focus
Kian Spence has made the third-most appearances for Barrow this season and has continue to show his importance to the Bluebirds.
He scored nine goals in 49 appearances last season and has continued his fine form with five goals so far during this campaign.
Four of his five goals have come since the start of February and helped Barrow vanquish Gillingham, MK Dons and Notts County.
Spence is versatile and can operate as both a defensive and attacking midfielder – he can also play out on the right-hand side.
