The Spireites return to the SMH Group Stadium on Good Friday to face Cheltenham Town in League Two action.
Chesterfield come into this one off the back of a 1-0 away win at the Wham Stadium against Accrington Stanley, in which Will Dickson scored a second-half winner.
The Robins suffered a heavy 5-2 defeat against Notts County last time out, but had been unbeaten in the previous eight games.
In the Spotlight
Isaac Hutchinson has been in top goalscoring form this season in League Two. The 25-year-old signed for the Robins on loan from Bristol Rovers in September of the current season and scored eight goals in 19 appearances.
Hutchinson was recalled from his loan by Bristol Rovers in January and played three games before re-joining Cheltenham, again, on loan.
Since his return to Gloucestershire, the midfielder has scored another eight goals in just ten appearances. Hutchinson bagged a brace in the previously mentioned 5-2 loss against Notts County.
The gaffer’s record
Paul Cook has managed 12 games against Cheltenham Town in his career, winning six, drawing two and losing four.
The Spireites won the reverse fixture 2-0, thanks to a smart flick from Lee Bonis and a stunning free-kick from Dylan Duffy.
The last time the two sides met at the SMH Group Stadium was in September 2024, in which the Spireites dominated but only managed a 1-1 draw.
Man in the middle
James Durkin will take charge of the Spireites’ clash on Good Friday, assisted by Danny Guest, Wayne Grunnill and fourth official Andrew Ellis.
Durkin has officiated Chesterfield on six occasions, once in the EFL and five times in the National League. The Spireites have won just one of those games, 1-0 against Aldershot in 2021.
The last time Durkin was the man in the middle for Chesterfield was in a 1-0 loss at Colchester United in March 2025.
Paul Cook’s thoughts
“Steve’s pedigree, CV and history as a manager is just absolutely rock solid, isn’t it? He probably got brought into Cheltenham at a time when Cheltenham feared relegation.
“Like all of Steve’s teams, very well structured. They’ve got good players, like the majority of teams in the division now. Really tough game for us. We know what we’re going into, but we’d like to think it’s a tough game for Cheltenham as well.”
