On Dennis Kutrieb

Dennis Kutrieb is not a name that many fans of English football will be familiar with as the now Ebbsfleet United manager had a playing career in the lower leagues of German football. Upon finishing his career as a player, Kutrieb had spells as manager at TuS Makkabi, Altglienicke and TeBe Berlin. In June 2020, the 43-year-old made his way to England to become manager of Ebbsfleet United and guided the Fleet to promotion last season.

One to watch

Especially after last season, it is clear that the Spireites need to keep an eye on Dominic Poleon. The striker had scored against the Spireites whilst at Leeds United and Oldham Athletic. However, the 30-year-old is enjoying his best spell throughout his career in Kent scoring 35 goals during the last campaign as well as scoring a hat-trick for St Lucia against Sint Maarten during the most recent international fixtures.

This season in numbers:

Appearances – 6

Goals -7

Assist – 0

Yellow Cards – 1

Red Cards – 0

Minutes Played – 510

Played for both

Haydn Hollis was one of the most important figures in Chesterfield’s early National League campaigns. Making almost 100 appearances for the club, the defender was an integral part of the team, especially in the 2020/21 season. Unfortunately, an Achilles injury against Eastleigh in April 2021 ruled him out until his release in the summer of 2022.

Hollis joined Ebbsfleet United upon his departure from the SMH Group Stadium and started playing regular first-team football for the first time in over a year. He won promotion to the National League with the Fleet, playing 29 times in the process. So far this campaign, he has played twice for the newly-promoted side.

View from the dugout

Danny Webb said: “They are a strong team, strong outfit. They obviously cruised to promotion last season. This season they’ve played eight, won four and lost four.

“If the season was to stop now, we’d be in the play-offs and so would they. On paper, there is not a massive difference.”
